Academy’s Young helps New Zealand to title at OFC U-16 Women’s Championship

Cambridge-based RH3 Football Academy player Nat Young has helped her New Zealand team to victory at the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship in Tahiti.

Playing her first games for her country, she was part of the New Zealand squad that played five games in Papeete, winning them all.

Young (15) was in the starting line-up for the final, in which New Zealand needed a late goal to beat Fiji 1-0

The win means New Zealand will represent Oceania at next year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup in the Dominican Republic.

Young scored twice at the eight-nation tournament, against Fiji in the group stages, and against Vanuatu.

Young has been with the RH3 Football Academy for seven years, playing club football for Cambridge and the Hamilton Wanderers.
