RH3 Football Academy U-19 women’s team to play three games in Melbourne

The RH3 Football Academy will take an U-19 women’s squad on tour to Melbourne in early December, giving players the chance to play teams from three women’s A-League clubs.

The RH3 Football Academy squad … ready to tour Melbourne.

The Scott Bult-coached RH3 team will play academy sides from Melbourne Victory, Western United and Melbourne City.

“We think this is an excellent opportunity to provide our touring players with the chance to test themselves against some of the best up-and-coming young players in Victoria,” RH3 founder Ricki Herbert said.

“Our players will also be able to immerse themselves in their football while on the tour, helping them understand the level of focus and effort that is needed if they want to reach their potential.”

The 21-player squad has 18 players from Hamilton, Auckland and Rotorua, and the side will be in Australia from December 3-8.

To prepare for the tour, the squad had warm-up games against Lakes FC, in Rotorua, and Auckland United, where they played at Keith Hay Park, the training base for the Football Ferns during the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

“In Melbourne, they’ll get chance to see and use the training facilities at the A-League clubs, showing them what it’s like in the professional environment,” Herbert says.
